Friend, blogger, and all round good guy Kenn Blanchard (Black man with a gun) asked a question on FaceBook. "If you HAD to choose only five guns to own..... which ones and why?"
First of all, the question itself raises my hackles, as even the thought of paring the Carteach collection down to only five weapons is....... (shiver)...... difficult to conceive. That said, what is the answer? If we had to choose just five... and only five... what would they be?
I'll write up an answer in an upcoming post, with explanations of Carteach's choices. Till then, feel free to discuss in comments if you wish. Play nice now!

Only 5 - - - Tough choices.
Start with the most important two. Of equal importance, a reliable, accurate center fire rifle and a powerful pistol or revolver. Second tier, an accurate .22 rifle, an easily concealed pistol or revolver and a shotgun of your choice.
In my case, a DPMS LR 308B and a Kimber .45 with nite sights & crimson trace laser sights.
Second tier, CZ 452 full stock, S&W 640 (with laser sight) & a Remmy 870.
This leaves an awful lot of fine firearms behind, but maximum utility and only five firearms to cover.
These jumped into my head...
1) Remington Nylon 66 .22
2) Ruger SP101 .357 magnum
3) Colt 1911A1 .38 Super stainless
4) Mossberg 500 12ga
5) Seecamp .380
The Mossberg has three barrels, each for a different use...
Hmm,
1.) Marlin 60 Rifle -- a .22 tube fed rifle with basic scope.
2.) Maverick by Mossberg Security 88 shotgun.
3.) Empty -- but need a main battle rifle, something along the lines of a Mosin Nagant 1891 or M1.
4.) Ruger GP-100 in .357
5.) Sig Sauer SP2022 - 15 rounds of 9 mm in a decent size handgun with better accuracy than what I can produce.
2 or 3 of those can fill the pot and 2 or 3 would keep others from raiding the pot.
All would be fun to shoot.
Well, lessee...
Shotgun: Rem Md 11
.22 Rifle: Marlin M39
Pistol#1: Kimber 1911 .45ACP
Pistol#2: S&W J-frame .39Spl
Rifle: M1 Garand 30.06 (alternately AR .223. Difficult choice.)
