Well now, here's a thought.......

Here's something that I'd like to know about my representatives and senators: Have they ever voted on legislation while they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Would they be willing to take drug tests before every vote to prove it?

Seriously... I'm a teacher and I would be willing to take regular drug tests to prove my fitness, as my job is important and young peoples lives depend on me being straight. Would it be too much to ask a legislator to do the same?

What about YOUR legislators? Why not ask them?

I had to pass a drug and alcohol screening prior to my employer offering me a position with the company.

In order to keep my job I have to pass random drug and alcohol screening.

At any time a manager has a reasonable suspicion that I am under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the job I can be sent for testing. If I refuse my employment can be terminated immediately.

At any time a law enforcement officer suspects I am under the influence I can be tested, and if I refuse, my commercial driver's license can be taken on the spot.

Part of these conditions are established by my employer - if I don't like them I can leave the job.

Part of these conditions were established by legislators and bureaucrats who are not bound by the same conditions.

I fix vehicles. My actions and behavior have the potential to immediately affect a small portion of the population.

The actions and behaviors of legislators and bureaucrats affect a much larger portion of the population. Why shouldn't they be expected to prove that they are not under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol?
