I'm forty pages in.... and rather feeling like it's a slog. I prefer reads that allow me to romp along in enjoyment, anticipating each next page. With this book, I find my mind wandering away from heavily detailed and ever deepening character construction. I suppose the beginning of the book was a warning, when I found instructions on how to pronounce the Turkish dialect found in the passages.
I have this shadow suspicion The Dervish House is really a good book, but.... it's not for me I think. It's up against 'Feed' this year, which means it's already lost for me.
