We have.... changed.... I suppose.

We have done well, these past few years together. Not quite two years, but time has been passing so pleasantly that it's hard to count without a calendar. Our relationship began, and continued, and was recently re-based, on a mutual understanding.

We are what we are. We seek no advantages over each other. We care about each other. We respect each other. We trust each other.

Yet, we walk separate paths. They seem one, much of the time, but that is only our fortune favoring us. It can be a wonderful thing, walking our paths together, yet it comes with dangers as well. Humans are not always the best creatures at seeing what is, especially what is within themselves.

So, we share our lives with each other.... but an understanding as well. We do not own each other, but instead are open to what is best for each of us.

It's a challenge, to be that honest. A good one.

I have this philosophy.... All humans are faced with a choice.

They can become students of human nature, trying to recognize the good and bad within themselves... or they can choose to ignore human nature, and act simply on drives, desires, and instincts. The former is what sets mankind aside from animals, and the latter is to act as an animal.

Making the first choice is harder, more complicated, and creates a difficult path to follow... for it's the basis of knowing right from wrong. There are those who study human nature, and themselves, and actively try to better themselves and do what is right. There are others... people who study human nature, note the flaws inherent to the unthinking herd, and use them as a means to control.

There is no danger greater than the refusal to see, and to think. Doing so leaves one a pawn to anyone awake, aware, and driven to power over others.
