Up early.......
This morning, as happens many times, my mind kicked into gear long before there was any need for it. So early, in fact, there is time to drink an entire pot of excellent coffee before I haul my butt out to the local eatery for a comfortable Friday breakfast. They don't open til 6am....
I don't eat there every Friday, but sometimes when my day begins long before I wished to.... breakfast at the counter is a stabilizing anchor to my morning. The nice lady fills my coffee cup, brings me a plate of hot tasty food I didn't have to cook myself, shares a kind word.
When I do indulge, I leave a good tip. Two or three bucks on a five dollar ticket. It's got nothing to do with percentages at that counter.... it's about value received. A quiet moment alone with my breakfast, in the middle of a swirl of activity, voices, movement.... and a kind waitress who slips smoothly through the veil to refill the cup and check my omelet progress.
More than the cup gets refilled. Some mornings, the will to continue through the day gets topped off as well, in a silent transfer of stubborn dedication.

Yep, and those are some of the BEST breakfasts we'll ever have...
Yes... agreed.
I do like those breakfasts. Early morning, often at the counter rather than a table or booth. Waitress who keeps the cup full, and knows when to talk, and when to leave you alone with your food.
Doesn't hurt if the waitress has a nice backside and knows how to show it off, either.
Often the tip is more than the tab.
