* Sunday morning, this instant.... and I will be heading to the range later today. The plan is to do load testing in the Mauser, try out the brand new 1943 03-A3, and have a little quality time with Liberty (my Garand). All in 30-06. My hope is the range is not crowded, but there are at least a few people there to Oh-Ahhh over my precious..... My PRECious...........
* A piece up on the shooty blog, re-discussing Eye Protection. It's a subject that can never be covered too many times, I think. What pushed me to post it again, browsing Amazon and finding these safety glasses: Dewalt Safety Glasses
* In my present state of unemployment (brokeitude), I've taken to selling on E-bay. Yes, I know... dancing with the devil. In any case, there have been some interesting incidents of weirdness that comes with public interaction. One Alaskan dude absolutely lost his mind when the ancient Lee Pro-1000 press I shipped him wasn't as-new in the original box. His long profanity strewn message detailing the 'rust on the aluminum' was forwarded to E-bay. I suspect he had been in his cabin just a LITTLE too long this Winter. Another brain donor dropped me a note asking me to 'Take $20 plus shipping'. That was it. No indication what the hell he's talking about. Also.... no obvious understanding what an 'auction' is. Ah well... amusing individuals, all.....
* Last night marked the first official Bon-Fire of the season. Friends stopped by, children dancing in the fading sunlight, an EXCELLENT tossed together meal of various delights, cold and cold running whiskey, cigars for all, a fine time comparing BBQ heaters..... it was a good evening. I suspect/hope/expect there will be many more this Summer!
* And now, for something completely different..... Yours Truly has been approached by a rather old and prestigious institution regarding their Automotive program. I'm certain I'm one of many they have spoken with, but the process has gotten to the point of an invitation to tour the program, and also 'perform' a lesson for a panel of instructors and admin folks. This should be interesting. Ahead of me, many decisions.... the main one being: If offered the position, do I wish to take it? Not a step to be taken lightly. I have no intention of flitting through jobs, landing here or there for a year at a time. You see... it's not a job.... it's not even a career. It's a calling.
Ah well..... life is interesting!

Alaska has received its fair share of Left Coasties over the last 5 or 6 years, and we're currently discussing how to ship them back. Sorry you got one of the idiots - and I'd be willing to bet he's a recent arrival from Oregon. We get a lot of those, and most don't have enough sense to get out of their own way.
Paul,
I certainly don't hold Alaska having any responsibility for that whacko. People of his ilk reside everywhere.
I am wondering if there isn't a bit of cabin fever involved.... or I suppose he could simply be a jerk.
Never mind.... it's of no concern.
This beautiful day.. now THAT is something to be concerned with! I feel a duty to make the best use of the gorgeous weather before the storm rolls in tonight.
Ebay 'does' get interesting... :-)
