BJ's run... 4-6
That was... unsettling. So many cues are different.
We took masks. Just technician dust masks, but better than the old t-shirt which was plan-B. We put the masks on in the car, and kept them on til back in the car (Go-Go team HEPA filter HVAC!)
We hand sanitized before getting out of the car, before leaving the store, and again back in the car.
The store is cattle-shoot'ing customers. One way in, one way out, maintain spacing, and people on hand with sanitizer and wipes. All the carts are now inside, in a new spot, and they are wiped down before you get one.
So yeah.... we went to BJ's because I wanted a mostly once and done for the week shopping. BJ's has everything (at least I thought they would) and I expected they would be maintaining the psycho clean (they are).
(Okay..... I re-read that, and had a memory. "Once and done, right?" she said that night. I agreed. Next morning involved her jumping up and down with "Again! Again!" I disagreed.)
The place had everything we wanted, but the mix is shifted, thinned, with lighter stocking in place. You want bottled water? Many many lots. paper goods? No worries. Fresh meat? Okay, but two-per of anything on hand. Cinnamon? Nope. Spices? Limited. Sauces? Thin.... very thin.
Those pallet racks towering to the ceiling that were always fully stocked? Not so much now. We saw empty shelving.... a concerning amount of empty shelving. The kind of empty shelving that encouraged me to like canned tuna a lot. Quite a lot. An awful lot.
We were good when we got up this morning. We are gooder now. I don't expect to be going into any other stores this week. We will probably take daily rides, in the neighborhood, and just by ourselves. Just to get out of the house and maintain sanity.... for a given value.
I'll admit it, I'm spooked.
