I'm challenging my students (those paying attention) to do something. Pick at least one super cool thing each day, and learn all they can about it that day.
Today, I chose dual fuel injection. Not two different fuels, but two fuel injectors per cylinder. One in the intake port, and one directly injecting into the combustion chamber.
Both methods have pro's and con's, and using both at the same time is a way to accentuate the goodness. That division (split) can be 10/90, 50/50, or even 0/100. As the engine goes through various operating condition, the engine management system (read: Computer) changes the mix based on the engineers operating strategy.
My 2019 Camry uses this injection method, and it's fascinating. Using the state change of the fuel itself as a combustion cooling process, which allows much higher advanced ignition timing with all that implies...... SHINY!
