When I read a story that evokes a response, I'll usually try to learn more. It's my nature, and most of my life work required it. Find evidence, look for patterns, determine the fault, fix same... if allowed.
So, when I read a story about (what seems to be) egregious authoritarian overkill, even barbarism, I usually take a moment and look up the environment that spawned it. A simple DuckDuckGo: "Is XXXXXX a Democrat or Republican city/town/county/state?"
Funny... now it has led to another question (Doesn't it always?). At what point does a 'Trend' become a safe assumption?
