About 6 years ago, we bought this boat while the buying was good.
Buying was good, but time to work on it... and laziness.... not so good. Still, the price was excellent and it came with a salvageable trailer (with title). A 1950's Sears flat bottom on a Cox boat trailer, and it even came with a 1950's Sears 5hp outboard that may or may not ever run again.
Now is the time to dooo eeeet. I have the time, and I'm forcing the daily energy as best I can. It will take a bit, but we can see ourselves not catching fish from this boat in the near future.
I had this image in my head of just shoving the boat in our truck and heading to the lake. The trailer needs work, and I'm lazy and poor.
Hah! As I dragged this beastie out of the weeds and into the drive to clean it up, I couldn't recall the thing being a mile long. 14 feet of aluminuminuminum hole in the water. Yeah, that is not going to ride well in the 5 foot bed of our truck.
Guess I'm rehabbing the Cox boat trailer.
The trailer needs new tires & wheels, all new wiring and lights, a license plate bracket, and the winch repaired. The wooden bunkers are fine for now, although I may put strips of outdoor carpet on them for padding.Today, I'll start by cleaning the boat. Spray chem and a pressure washer.
Maybe tomorrow I'll tear down the trailer and source the parts we need.
Once the trailer is rehabbed, and the boat cleaned up and back on the trailer, both need new registration ($$OUCH$$). Then the boat needs to be kitted out with the necessary gear. After all that... maybe we go fishing!
Herself wishes to name the old girl 'The Little Hooker'. I'm leaning towards 'NOFF' (Not One $@#$%&$ Fish).
