The weirdly dysfunctional bolt catch on the used CMT power I bought has been preying on my mind. I just cannot picture it in a useful configuration.
I had a lower parts kit laying around, so this morning I swapped the bolt catch for a mil-spec part. As long as I was playing with itties and bitties, I also installed a fire control group, safety, and grip.
Now, I'll be swapping the safety for an ambidextrous unit, and the bolt catch for something a little bolder and more matching the other controls. Hey.... why not go all the way? I mean.... what's a $270 Geissele trigger amongst friends, right?
It will also need the correct buffer and spring, as the lower came with... of all things.... a full size A2 spring and buffer. It was so packed into the tube that a standard bolt would only open half way.
Anywho.... some images for you. Can you think what this weird bolt catch was used for? PCC? Rimfire? I'm stumped.
