A few minutes doing some specific Google-Fu seems to suggest the man is onto something real.

Jobs up?  Certainly.  More people with jobs?  Not so fast there sonny boy.

Explain the fact there are fewer people working, but more jobs are filled.  Simple.... more people are working two or more jobs.

How does that math work?  As usual, change the definition to suit the desired outcome.  What exactly is 'A Job'?  What exactly is an 'Employed person'?  Twist the definitions enough, and even herd dogs will show up in the statistics.
