Chili begun

In the pot so far:

  • Three strip steaks, rough ground, and browned off.
  • One sweet onion, roughly chopped and browned in butter.
  • One bottle of good Lager beer.
  • Two pints of home-canned tomatoes.
  • One can of tomato paste.
  • A large handful of dried tomatoes and dried sweet peppers, roughly chopped.
  • A heaping tablespoon of Magic seasoning.
  • A tablespoon of smoked paprika.
  • A large bar of 100% cocoa chocolate.
I'll let this simmer for a few hours and then get back to it.  I'm pretty sure I'll need to thin it a bit as the dried peppers and tomatoes soak up the liquids.

Note:  So far, no beans.  This may be my first sans-beans chili.

Along with a cast iron skillet of corn bread, it should make a fine dinner on a cold day.
