Boat report....

Almost four hours on the river today in our freshly fixed-up 14' Jon-Boat.  We are *tired*.  Herself napped the rest of the afternoon, and frankly, I was too sore to sleep.

The boat fulfilled all expectations.

  • It floated our chubby boats
  • It did not sink at any time
  • It hits rocks without breaking up
  • It allows us to catch trees while fishing
  • The lil putt-putt motor serves fine since we are not in a hurry.
  • The trolling motor needs a home on the boat, and that was not determined today.
We transported it using a bed extension on the truck.  It loaded fine at the house, unloaded fine at the ramp, and almost seriously kilt us loading back up at the ramp. Everything was WAY harder trying to get it back in the truck bed on the awkward ramp.  Several strangers helped out.

You meet the nicest people at the boat ramp.

The trailer will be done in another week (I hope) and then Jon-boat life gets a lot easier.

Possible future boat mods include a front casting platform, a storage area in the middle seat, and a larger motor someday.
