Chicken soup my unknown Jewish grandmother would be proud of.

Yup.  Jewish.  About 22% according to one of the genetic testing outfits.  Wish I had family I could ask about that.

(Am I worried they will steal my genetic identity?  Friends, I know me. I wish them luck).

Anyway, back in this post here I talk about turning cheap chicken into family eats. This morning I used a quart of that stock and a handful of the meat to make us chicken soup.  It began with rendering down the last couple slices of bacon, sauteing mirepoix using the leftovers from today's canning project, creating a roux, and then making the soup with the stock and chicken.  Also, a few chopped up kale leaves found their way in.

Served with the time honored buttered saltines, it was a soup to remember.  Perhaps another PB in the chickens soup category.

Remember, soups and stews are all about building flavor.  In my world they are also about using up bits and pieces leftover from other projects.

This one punched all the buttons.
