Flash Food App, the redux...

Flash Food is an outfit that works with local stores.  In our area, it's Giant Food Stores.  The store lists near date meats, produce, bakery stuff, whatev, on the app at 1/2 off.  The customer goes to the app, buys what they want, and then picks it up at the store.  For a year or so I bought from them regularly and it helped stretch our food bucks.

About a year ago I stopped using it.  The local stores I shop at either failed to list foods, or had 'issues' when it came time for me to pick it up.  It became more trouble than it was worth.  Not because of the app, but because of the store personnel involved.

Today I decided a year was long enough to see the people element swapped out, so I signed up for another try.  Here is my first haul....

Six 1-pound+ packages of meatloaf mix, Seven small packages of cubed cheese, tavern ham, and honey turkey. A 1/2 pound of fancy mushrooms. A four pack of big muffins, A bag of slaw mix. A pound of fancy cherry tomatoes. A handful of cucumbers.  $44 dollars my cost, twice that at full retail.

I figure that's enough ground meat for two big meatloaf's.  The cubed meat will go to casseroles and chef salads.  Tomatoes and cukes also to salads, and the muffins to the women and children's bellies. The mushrooms to a pot of chicken-mushroom-kale soup.  The slaw mix, straight to the ducks.

Fair deal, and I'm happy with it.  Flash Foods will be added to the shopping sequence again, at least for a while.
