The base charges by USB, and in turn charges the probe when docked. So simple it's seamless and totally forgettable. In fact, the unit is so easy to use the instruction are not needed (For me, anyway).
Quitting at five months irked me, so I went back to me Amazon review and changed it to one star, with an explanation why. I did not contact the seller, what with it being five months old and well used.
No, the seller contacted ME, and offered a refund. I suggested a replacement working unit instead, which arrived today. I honestly wasn't banking on it, and forgot it might be arriving.
I see the probe is built differently, of different materials, than the last one. Perhaps that redesign extends to the internals as well. It will get a workout in a few days when the New Years rib roast spends about 3 hours at 300 degrees.
Imagine if every company treated customer service like this.
