WA tool of the day #2

What is it?  If you know, your were probably building units back in the day, but it's still used as far as I know.  The job wore out many a strong tech. Answer in comments.

(Hint:  There was originally a matching handle on the other side.  It got in way so I cut it off. Tool still works fine).

This bar bolts to the pinion on a GM 10-bold rear differential (or any diff really) and holds the bloody thing in place while the tech applies MASSIVE torque to the pinion nut in order to crush a new bearing spacer (crush collar) into place.
The crush collar is a stout steel sleeve that acts to set the preload on the pinions tapered roller bearings. Not doing this job with a wampa gun or even a big ratchet. I'm talking a GOOD breaker bar with 4' cheater pipe on it. I just used a floor jack handle.
As much force as it takes, it's a delicate procedure. Success and failure are determined by an almost unmeasurable turn on that nut. The preload is achieved with huge leverage and both feet braced, but measured with an inch-pound torque wrench. As I recall, it's something like 14 inch pounds of resistance with lubed bearings.
When a smart tech builds that style diff, they buy several crush collars before they even begin. They are cheap, but one way components. Just the merest smidgeon overdone, and it's start over from square one with a new collar.
