The wood stove has the room toasty warm, and the ice has the bourbon chilled perfectly. In between is me, settled in for the evening and relaxing to the glow. A few stray thoughts....
- Maybe I am getting a might old for this stuff... By the start of work Wednesday, I already had in nearly thirty hours, counting teaching days and taking courses nights. By Wednesday evening I was a basket case, good only to sit by the fire and shiver. Now, only a day later, I feel almost human again. One more day in the puzzle palace...
- Tomorrow, living room furniture gets delivered. Couch, recliner, tables... what luxury! I plan to spend part of the weekend on the couch, snuggling with Jessi, studying algebra.
- I have discovered that wild rice cooked in beef broth makes a great standalone meal. Tasty, filling, easy, and cheap.
- As I sit here, the house is comfortably warm from the wood stove. The pile of wood in the driveway? Bought with cash made selling an old Mercruiser lower unit. The drive was sold on Craigslist, and the wood bought from Craigslist, and the house was rented from a Craigslist ad. Much of the home's furnishings comes from thrift stores. There is a lesson in there about the new economy we are evolving.

I dropped by at Xavier's place to say goodbye as well. I hope he keeps the blog up for reference. There's a lot of good info there on a number of subjects.
We'll all still be here if/when he returns.
