A BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING.
AN INTENSE COASTAL LOW WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY SLIDE NORTH ALONG
THE NEW JERSEY COAST THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE PUSHING EAST OUT TO SEA
TONIGHT.
NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON...WITH FREQUENT
GUSTS BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH. THESE WINDS COMBINED WITH OCCASIONAL
HEAVY SNOW WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF
SNOW WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS LIKELY AT TIMES.
THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL THIS AFTERNOON WILL OCCUR ACROSS PORTIONS
OF THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER VALLEY. SNOWFALL RATES UP TO ONE INCH PER
HOUR ARE EXPECTED AT TIMES IN THAT REGION.
TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE BETWEEN
6 AND 12 INCHES FROM SOMERSET AND JOHNSTOWN TO BREEZEWOOD. SNOWFALL
TOTALS WILL EXCEED A FOOT ALONG THE I-81 CORRIDOR...WITH AMOUNTS
APPROACHING 20 INCHES FROM GETTYSBURG TO YORK TO LANCASTER SOUTH
TO THE MARYLAND BORDER. SNOW WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF THIS EVENING.
