Traditional snow storm fare: French Toast.
Made with Fresh french bread, sliced and dried a bit, Eggnog, Madagascar vanilla, free range eggs, Vietnamese cinnamon, and real amber maple syrup. Topped with pats of creamy butter and spoonfuls of strawberry jam.
There is mythology in play here. It's part of the human psyche... when snow threatens, something deep within our collective memory drives us to stock the larder with Milk, Bread, and Eggs. In our modern age, this translates to every store in the storm area being hit full blast, and stripped of the mandatory Milk, Bread, and Eggs. People who don't eat a loaf of bread in weeks will buy two loaves. Folks who never eat eggs buy dozens.
Why? Why is this so?
Long, long ago, in the history of our species, we learned to fear.... Snow Demons (and their cousins in terror, the Ice Weasels). These creatures stalked the storms, ensnaring unwary humans out collecting firewood or tending livestock. Many a man forced into the swirling snow storm by hunger or duty never came back.
Sometime... in ages before time began, humans stumbled on the answer. Stale bread, moistened with the last of the milk, and the sole remaining eggs.... cooked on a flat rock by the fire. Those foods somehow, combined in that way.... frightened the Snow Demons when nothing else would. The mere scent of such sustenance blowing on storm winds would be enough to make the creatures flee for miles around.
This discovery, as best determined by researchers, took place in the region of the world known as Europe today, and was specifically recorded in the cave paintings of Lascaux, France.
Thus.... 'French Toast' as we know it today, saved humanity from the ravages of the voracious Snow Demons. To this hour, wherever Bread, Milk, and Eggs are combined and cooked in a hot pan, not one single Snow Demon can be found.
Oh, the cinnamon and maple syrup broaden the protection to include Ice Weasels. Very important point to remember.
