You really want me to shut up and go away?

(rant on)

A serious pet peeve of mine.... Someone who won't allow me to finish a sentence. Someone who talks right over me, correcting what I have said before I even say it. Someone who makes it clear that whatever I was going to say.... is not worth listening to.

You want me to shut up, stop talking with you, and go away? Easy enough..... just don't let me finish a sentence without speaking over me, and I'll be on my silent way sooner than you can believe.

Crucis said...: BTDT. Did it to a former boss once. Was in a meeting and as I tried to give my report, he keeping finishing my sentences. Finally, I just got up, said, "It's apparent I'm not needed here," and walked out---in front of three managers and two VPs.

Didn't make me favorable with my boss, but next layoff, he went and I stayed. Seems manager-level engineers have an audience too.; December 28, 2010 at 1:56 PM

I have this philosophy.... All humans are faced with a choice.

They can become students of human nature, trying to recognize the good and bad within themselves... or they can choose to ignore human nature, and act simply on drives, desires, and instincts. The former is what sets mankind aside from animals, and the latter is to act as an animal.

Making the first choice is harder, more complicated, and creates a difficult path to follow... for it's the basis of knowing right from wrong. There are those who study human nature, and themselves, and actively try to better themselves and do what is right. There are others... people who study human nature, note the flaws inherent to the unthinking herd, and use them as a means to control.

There is no danger greater than the refusal to see, and to think. Doing so leaves one a pawn to anyone awake, aware, and driven to power over others.
