There seems to be some wide ranging misconception that all people share the same ideas regarding hypocrisy and situational ethics. The reality is, there are a great many in power (and those who support them) who regard such things as mere tools in a tool box, and not something to be ashamed of. In fact, the very notion of 'shame' and moral consistency is meaningless to them.
Expecting such things of them is ridiculous.
