Hmm..... COULD be a fan-boi....maybe

I set myself to a multi-task learning exercise:

A) Learn how to effectively use a red dot sight on a carry pistol.

B) Muscle memory a new carry pistol.

C) Make each shot count as training, rather than simply turning money into noise.

The 'A' thing is interesting.  It took almost 70 rounds before I got myself to stop 'aiming' and just look at the target.  The trick is to focus on the target, and bring the red dot into alignment without shifting focus to the sight.

Yeah, so THAT is going to  take some time and effort. After a lifetime of FRONT SIGHT FRONT SIGHT FRONT SIGHT I now have to think 'Target Target Target'.

I suspect I'll be looking at a .22 trainer to match this pistol as the year goes on.  For some reason the time I put into learning a red-dot sight on rifles does not translate to pistols.  That will bear some skull sweat as I try and figure out why.

'B'..... is where that possible FanBoi thing comes in.  I was swapping backstraps on this Gen5 Glock, and when I hit the large beavertail unit it suddenly felt like the pistol was custom made for me. It almost points itself, and I stopped struggling to get that blasted dot where it ought to be.

'C' is something I should have always done, but seldom have. With per-round prices going astronomical, when ammo can be found at all, it's a necessity now. Today's shooting was one round at a time. Each shot from a belt level muzzle down position, the better to learn sight alignment.

I think I'll be backing that up with a lot more dry fire, too.
