Uncle 'Creepyhands' Joe does it again, and makes me wonder about something.....

Yeah, his staff say it was simply just another misstatement.

Whatever.

At this point, What Uncle 'Creepyhands' Joe says when he's unsupervised is hardly worth paying attention to anymore.

The statement does make me wonder. Most 'gaffe's' arise from thoughts escaping one's verbal filter, I believe. Setting aside, for the moment, that the person who said this *really* should have known better (It is, after all, a Trump level Faux Pas), let's look at the concept behind the man's words.

Are 'poor' families stereotyped as non-white, as Uncle Joe implied? If so.... why?

I believe the facts would show the opposite. I understand a higher percentage of people on government hand-outs are white. This has been my personal experience too. If this is factual, then why the stereotype?

What is in Old Creepyhand's brain that makes that connection?

I'm..... um.... somewhat older than I once was. I've lived in a few places where skin color was a toss-up, and mostly disregarded by normal everyday folks. If someone was to ask me if more people of one type or another was on the dole, I'd have to go with the answer above, because those are the facts as I understand them. Race had nothing to do with it, in my experience.

What formed Joe's opinion then? Is it a common opinion? Was there that vast a difference in his upbringing compared to mine? My family was pretty much bottom 25% financially most of my time growing up, and that goes pretty far in my thinking process I suppose. I know he's been rich and connected since birth.... is that the difference?
