I'm going to give this Vortex scope a run on the Savage .17 hmr. New rifle, new scope, new learning curve. Funny, the optics costing more than the Pewstick...
It has a 15 page manual on working the reticle.
So far, from what I have read, it makes perfect sense. For the purpose I'm using this rifle (woodchucks and targets) the graduations should be simple to use. This is the first 'First Focal Plane' rifle optic I've owned, and the difference is startling. The reticle stays to scale throughout the 6x24 zoom range, and even before I have the rifle to mount this thing on, I'm liking that feature.
Also note the side focus (paralax) adjustment. Another first for me, and one I expect to be loving on. These elderly eyes do like a bit of coddling, and being able to adjust the scope focus over a wide range is golden.
Looking forward to assemblage, and working it in on the range. Yes, it will be a bit of 'Mounting a telescope on a BB gun', but I don't really care. I'll be shooting within 200 yards, but the targets are not all that big. Aim small, miss small... ya know?
