More realistically speaking, it never existed in the first place.
Bias is a natural human trait, and can run to both good and bad. Biased against monkey brains for dinner?.... yeah, I'm good with that. I share that bias. Biased against half the humans in the United States because you wish yourself morally superior? Sorry sparky.... I can't ride that train with you.
In this case, one amongst an uncountable number, we see the NYT sharing it's institutional bias. Is it special? Meh... not really. At least they are up-front and honest about it.
More to the point, and more important, is how we as consumers look at these things.
Long, LONG ago.... pre-internet days.... I subscribed to 'The Wire Service'. What we know today as the news providers. The Associated Press (AP) is perhaps the most well known.
I noticed way back then the same article went out nationwide, but with different titles (Headlines) targeted to different regions of the nation. Local media outfits would, and still do, publish them verbatim. The stories are seldom checked for facts, as the title invariably meets the confirmation bias of the editorial folks responsible for publishing the stories.
It's a sad fact that almost *all* consumers of news media partake of the headlines, without diving into the actual information, and almost NEVER check the actual facts with primary sources.
The people who write headlines control the narrative.
