Tough choice...

The house is so moist right now....

I found paint peeling upstairs.  Mold on the bathroom ceiling.  Doors sticking.  Plaster swelling.

It's way too warm to light the wood stove and drive away moisture, and too cool to really enjoy any kind of air conditioning.... yet I need to do something.  This house is not designed for the rainy season.

I closed up downstairs, turned on the AC, and set it for 65 degrees.  I'll do upstairs soon as well.

Herself can snuggle under a blanket because I don't want to learn plastering and I'm too lazy to paint everything yet again.

Get a dehumidifier. Set it to 50-60% humidity.

Problem solved.

I thought about that. We already have a large one I use to control humidity in the basement. It's big enough to do our living room, and maybe the kitchen as well. Of course, we'd have to keep the windows closed, and the thing generates a fair amount of heat, and wouldn't touch the upstairs at all even though that would have to be closed up as well.

No, it's the window AC units. I'll run them for a few days while it's warm enough and solid rainy season. By the end of next week I expect it will be cooling down enough to run the fire in the evenings.
