One of those feathered fiends is now laying a daily 'olive' colored egg. Clearly it's one of our 3rd generation 'Welling' breed, which are all coming online and all laying itty bitty eggs.
But... Olive? Yes, our Welling breed is just all the chickens we've had the last few years mixed up together. We have never had an 'Olive Egger', nor the breeds that must be combined to get one. This little bit of genetic higgly piggy just happened.
We are introducing Rhode Island, Buff Orpington, and Jersey Giant to broaden the gene pool a bit. Lord only knows how that will end up.
