A 'clean' continuing resolution is a bill calling for the US government spending to legally continue at exactly the same levels as the last budget (Biden) called for. It's typically done for months, not years, and allows for intelligent negotiation in good faith, or at least as good as the slime of congress can be.
It takes 60 votes to get the bill passed. There have been ELEVEN votes on a clean CR. This graphic shows exactly how those have gone. Every Pube but one has voted to continue spending and negotiate. Every Dem but two have voted against the clean CR and keeping the government operating at full, even if it is full fail. The Pubes floated a bill to pay the military as a single purpose bill, and the same vote happened. D's voted as a block against it.
So.... what team owns the 'shut-down' (Which I am strongly in favor of)? Yup, straight D all the way. They get massive (Trillions) spending for their kickback schemes, or all those government workers can go to hell.
Meanwhile, back in what's left of the White House, the D's have handed the Trumpster team a very long list of unnecessary government employees and agencies ripe for the axe... and great cover to swing that axe from. "Ohhh look! The Dems won't let us pay these people so they have to go. Be free little minions! Be free!" So far the only folks who seem to be inconvenienced in any way are those who needed to use government only because government demanded it.
In case I haven't been clear, this is EXACTLY what I voted for.
