Saturday morning ramblings.... Part 579.2 (Po Po pitiful me edition, yada yada)
Looking to be a decent day... so far. Sometimes one is forced to qualify a statement; Such as I just did with 'so far'. Right now all is quiet, and I am accompanied by nothing more than chill morning air and bright morning sun light. That can always change....
Some days, one can do no wrong. Some nights, one can do no right. I suppose it balances, in a way.
Getting my hair cut last night, and the crusty old barber looks at a little red irritated patch of skin and says "Psoriasis?" in his gruff voice. "Yes" I replied.... "Happens every year towards the end of school". I answered without thinking, and then cogitated a moment. Yes, it does happen every year, and always for the same reason. Stress.
The end of the school year is always a powerfully stressful time of year. The students are antsy, and it's hard to keep them focused. Discipline becomes more difficult than ever (I had two suspended yesterday). The workload from administration grows exponentially. We have critical curriculum still to cover... if we can just manage to keep our boys on track. Those of us taking courses (pretty much every teacher) are running up against final projects and exams. We have to prep our own students for end of program testing, the results of which we will be heavily judged on.
Sure, there is a summer break to look forward to. About ten weeks with no students, and maybe only one college course, if we are lucky. It will be like heaven... but we have to survive the next eight weeks to enjoy it. One of our instructors stroked out last week and will spend the end of the school year in hospital. He is only four years older than I.
Today is looking bright though... so far. I will likely go to the gym and quietly work out till the exhaustion makes the cute women in spandex lose their appeal. Later, perhaps a few hours at the range, and tonight my partner is racing. That means opportunities for capturing great images, and perhaps video as well. Princess has school all day, and her own path to follow.
So... it's looking like a pretty decent day... so far.
