Thatcher was right

.
Margaret Thatcher said: "The problem with Socialism is, eventually you run out of other people's money". The place where Great Britain used to be has reached that point.

The Democrats have held both houses of the US Congress since 2006. Congress... the only folks who control the Federal Government purse strings, and all tax law. Congress... the only folks who can tax and spend, or not.

The President does NOT have the ability to spend money on that scale. He can do nothing more than propose, cheer lead, cajole, and pontificate when it comes to Federal spending and taxation.

It's hard to categorize Congress's actions over the five years. Certainly, the incredible and unsustainable increase in our national debt, mostly done to pay off voting blocks, points to Socialism. Even so.... the best description I can come up with is an across the board impression of Congress (of all 'stated' political persuasion) as 'All for me and you don't matter'.

No matter how you look at it, and no matter the intent behind it, the simple and plain fact is that Congress has run out of other people's money. In fact, through upcoming inflation and deferred taxes, they have also run out of other people's children's money as well.

Yo, Congress.... I gots a question for youse. "What are going to do for your next trick? Huh Sparkles? What NOW?"

The more I watch what is happening in England and France, the more sure I am that we are also on that same road to ruin and damnation
